Process Safety Management
Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Planning (RMP) are two uniquely intertwined regulations that ultimately aim to protect people and the environment, but from different perspectives. EnSafe has both the safety and air quality expertise to help clients navigate the complex requirements of these programs, which fall under the Clean Air Act yet involve compliance with both Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) standards. The OSHA PSM requirements involve protecting workers on-site while the USEPA RMP regulations pertain to off-site protection of human health and the environment.
The safe operation of chemical processes to protect not only workers, but the surrounding communities in which they operate is an essential element of any facility's operations and it may be required by OSHA's PSM Standard, found at Title 29 Code of Federal Regulations 1910.119 or the USEPA's Clean Air Act, Section 112(r), Accidental Release Prevention / RMP Rule -- or both.
