Sewer Extension NEPA Services for Municipalities

EnSafe prepared a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Environmental Assessment as an Environmental Report (ER) for a sewer extension project area and design alternatives. A community association requested that the Tennessee county and city find a way to construct sanitary sewers to provide a long-term solution for wastewater management. The community was concerned about septic tank system failure due to age, inadequate drainage, and poor soil conditions.

The resulting report focused on sanitary sewer design alternatives and their potential impacts on natural resources during implementation of the proposed action. EnSafe provided NEPA expertise to develop the ER for the linear sewer project, coordinating programmatic categorical exclusions as well as making recommendations regarding required wetland permits and other evaluations of potentially affected natural resources.

The report was written in accordance with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Guide for Preparing the Environmental Report for Water and Waste Projects to support the Rural Development, Rural Utilities Service’s (RD/RUS) environmental review process as required by NEPA and the RD/RUS Preliminary Engineering Report (as required by Title 7 Code of Federal Regulations 1780.33 [c]).
