Hazardous Waste and Pollution Prevention Services for the U.S. Military

EnSafe updated Pollution Prevention plans, developed Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) monitoring plans, assisted with RCRA permits and hazardous materials/waste issues, and performed hazardous substance management system installations and upgrades for multiple military installations.

EnSafe expedited mold assessments at a military installation following Hurricane Katrina, examining 942 rooms in eight buildings in two weeks.

To support of a RCRA permit modification for another installation, EnSafe evaluated 10 years’ worth of analytical data. After noting missing data and high detection limits with respect to regulatory benchmarks, EnSafe developed a “reasonable weight of evidence” approach to evaluating the data involving a multi-tiered background comparison and statistical analyses, evaluated against site history. This approach reduced the numerous technical exceedances to a much smaller set of concern. Using innovative “big picture” data graphics, this “reasonable” evaluation was successfully presented to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

EnSafe identified permit revisions that resulted in eliminating constituents from a groundwater monitoring event, saving the client approximately $7,000 in analytical costs.
