Energy-Control and Machine-Guarding Services for Computer Manufacturer
EnSafe worked extensively with the client to develop programs and conduct machine-guarding and lockout/tagout (LOTO) assessments. EnSafe developed action tables after conducting full-scale machine-guarding surveys, recording and photographing machine-guarding deficiencies. The table listed each piece of equipment, its identification number, location, the finding, and a risk ranking to assist the facility in prioritizing its actions toward resolving the issue identified.
At facilities with well-developed LOTO processes, EnSafe audited energy-control procedures encompassing all types of equipment found at the facility. At other facilities, EnSafe created the LOTO energy-control procedures, inspecting the entire facility, identifying equipment that required a LOTO procedure, and documenting the equipment and lockout points. Then procedures meeting Occupational Safety and Health Administration criteria were developed for all production and facilities equipment. In one facility, more than 1,000 procedures were written. All procedures were input into a LOTO database. EnSafe also labeled the equipment.
EnSafe worked with each facility to determine its needs and goals, then customized our services to meet those, all within the framework and guidelines identified by corporate safety managers. This customization assured each facility received exactly the services needed in an efficient and cost-effective manner, while providing the tools they needed to continue nurturing a strong safety culture.
