Comprehensive Long-Term Environmental Action-Navy

For 15 years, EnSafe met the challenges of the broadly scoped and geographically diverse Comprehensive Long-Term Environmental Action Navy (CLEAN) contract, achieving not only a 13% cost under-run throughout the life of the contract, but also setting technological and managerial precedents. EnSafe became the “go-to” consultant when the U.S. Navy approached new requirements:

  • When the Navy needed expedited Environmental Baseline Surveys (EBS) at nine bases closing under the Base Closure and Realignment initiative, it came to EnSafe and within six months got the results it required. The EBSs were delivered two months in advance of statutory deadlines, and EnSafe received a commendation and an award fee bonus.
  • When Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Southeast was delegated responsibility for operating the nationwide Early Transfer Team, EnSafe was selected (from among three CLEAN contractors) as the exclusive support contractor for that landmark program.

EnSafe performed 174 contract task orders, many concurrently, for professional consulting services spanning almost all environmental regulatory programs at more than 30 Naval and other Department of Defense . Our work was honored with three Secretary of the Navy Awards for environmental restoration.

NAVFAC Southeast increased the value of the $100 million contract to $160 million, and granted an unprecedented extension from the original 10-year contract term to 13 years, with two additional years to complete newly awarded assignments.
