EnSafe to Present at the Upcoming Tennessee Solid and Hazardous Waste Conference
Three EnSafers, including President and CEO Phil Coop, will present at the upcoming “40th Environmental Show of the South,” an annual Solid/Hazardous Waste Conference and Exhibition held in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, April 27-29, 2011.
Mr. Coop will co-present with Randall Womack, an attorney with the firm of Glankler Brown, PLLC, on “Recent Developments in Environmental Science and Regulations of Environmental Professionals.” This presentation will include a review of recent environmental consultant malpractice actions and efforts by some states to license or otherwise regulate environmental professions.
EnSafe Geologist, Tammy Keim Williams, will present a paper co-authored by EnSafe Senior Geophysicist, Larry Hughes, entitled, “A Landfill ‘Surprise’: Using Innovative Technology and Inter-agency Cooperation to Remove a Roadblock to Future Interstate 69.” This paper describes expedited investigations performed at an unpermitted landfill discovered in the path of a planned segment of I-69 and the innovative tools used to assess the potential impact on the roadway route.
EnSafe Principal Bry Roberson will be a member of a panel that includes Ed Callaway, of the law firm Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis, and Robert Nakamoto, of the Tennessee Division of Solid Waste Management. This panel discussion will center on using exemptions and exclusions from the definitions of solid and hazardous waste under RCRA, with a focus on ways to reduce hazardous waste generation.
The annual conference is sponsored by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, Division of Solid Waste Management. For more information contact Solid.Waste@tn.gov or (615) 532-0798, or visit www.tn.gov/environment/swm/pdf/program.pdf
