EnSafe Acquires Safety Services Firm
EnSafe Inc. will start the new year as one of the largest providers of health and safety consulting services in the southeast through the acquisition of PSC Safety and Health Services, Inc. The acquisition, effective January 1, 2007, will "strengthen our health and safety services to clients worldwide," says EnSafe President and CEO Phillip G. Coop, CHMM.

"This acquisition should also enable us to be one of the largest providers of health and safety consulting services in the southeast," Mr. Coop says. "Thus we will be able to expand our services to existing clients and add new clients."

EnSafe, founded in 1980, also specializes in engineering, environmental, and technology consulting services. Its client list includes several Fortune 100 companies and the U.S. Department of Defense.

PSC, a professional safety and health consulting and training company based in Knoxville, Tennessee, assists industrial and government facilities in establishing cost-effective safety management systems and Occupational Safety and Health Administration-compliant programs. PSC also works with clients to identify, evaluate, and control physical and chemical hazards in the workplace.

"The new integrated talent of PSC and EnSafe now provides more than 50 trained health and safety professionals and more than 125 other consultants to support environmental, health and safety, or technology needs," Mr. Coop says.

"We are excited about this growth opportunity and the ability to offer clients a broader range of services than we have historically provided," says PSC President Mike Palmer, CIH, CSP. Mr. Palmer will become EnSafe's vice president of health and safety services.

PSC employs more than 25 professionals, including two certified industrial hygienists (CIHs) who also hold concurrent certified safety professional (CSP) status as well as two additional CSPs. EnSafe's safety services staff currently includes six CIHs, four of whom hold concurrent CSP registrations, and 16 additional industrial hygienists. EnSafe employs more than 230 in offices worldwide.

PSC was named to Business Tennessee magazine's 2006 Fast50 companies list, an annual recognition of the 50 fastest growing, privately owned companies in Tennessee. Fast50 nominees must have been in business for at least three years, generate more than $750,000 of revenue, and employ five or more people.

Plans are to consolidate operations at EnSafe's office at 308 North Peters Road, Suite 200, Knoxville. PSC currently operates from 11424-C Kingston Pike in Knoxville. It also has offices in Paducah, Kentucky; Green Castle, Indiana; Florence, Alabama and Nashville. PSC's Nashville location also will consolidate with EnSafe's office at 220 Athens Way, Suite 410.
