| The ability
of your business or organization to survive
a crisis - whether a natural event such
as a flood or earthquake or a man-made malevolent
event such as a terrorist attack - depends
on a proactive crisis management approach.
A proactive crisis management system
is based on the Threat Management Triad
- PLANNING, TRAINING, AND TESTING to a threat
based on a critical assessment of the real
vulnerabilities of your organization. To
ensure that your entire Crisis Management
Team, from the executive level to the "on
the ground" responders can respond proactively
to a crisis, the entire team must be trained
not only to the plans but to the required
response actions.
Familiarity with the crisis plans and
response actions is critical, as also is
the knowledge that all co-employees and
responders are prepared for and capable
of responding to the incident in the proper
manner. The Crisis Management Team must
not wait until the middle of a major disaster
to become familiar with the details of the
plans.
