Florida EnSafers Volunteer for SurfQuest
Florida EnSafers had fun volunteering for last month's SurfQuest Beach Day on Crescent Beach, just south of St. Augustine, April 22. Kara Fincham organized EnSafe's contributions, which included lifejackets (#safetyfirst), food, and a cooler full of drinks. Frank McInturff and Larry Bowers both brought family to join the fun. Alyssa, Larry's daughter, made bracelets that were given to participants.
This is the fourth season of SurfQuest, which works in conjunction with the ARC of St. Johns. ARC provides services to those with physical and intellectual disabilities in St. Johns County, Florida. SurfQuest is a non-profit, purely volunteer based organization that provides monthly events to teach anyone with any disabilities how to surf.
Kara notes that you "don't have to know how to surf to volunteer—there is a lot of 'on shore' coordination going on as well – set up, music, talking with the caretakers and participants."
EnSafe will continue to provide volunteers on a monthly basis for the remainder of the 2017 season through October. Well done, Kara, for taking action to organize an all-around fun, wholesome and rewarding time to give back to the community.
