Jeff James, PE - Associate Principal

BS, Civil Engineering, University of Texas

 

Jeff is a senior civil engineer who focuses on remedial solutions, with specialized expertise in wastewater remedies. In his more than 20 years’ experience he has led award-winning engineering projects, including the remediation of perchlorate contamination at Naval Weapons Industrial Reserve Plant McGregor in Texas. That project won the two Secretary of Navy awards for environmental restoration as well as the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Tennessee’s 2000 Engineering Excellence Grand Award. His environmental experience centers on bringing practical, cost-effective, and often innovative solutions to clients’ difficult remediation projects. His experience includes regulatory and technical consulting, design, implementation, and management for projects performed under a variety of regulatory programs. Jeff is based in EnSafe’s Dallas office.

Frank McInturff, PE - Associate Principal/Chief Technology Officer

BS, Civil Engineering, Florida State University

 

Mr. McInturff is a professional engineer and technologist with more than 13 years of consulting experience with EnSafe. He is EnSafe's Chief Technology Officer, responsible for the leadership of EnSafe's Technology Division and internal information systems.

Michelle Smith - Associate Principal

BS, Accounting, Christian Brothers University

 

Michelle is EnSafe’s corporate controller, responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operations of EnSafe’s accounting systems, management of the accounting staff/department, and interaction with all divisions and branch offices within EnSafe’s corporate structure. With more than 15 years’ progressive experience in corporate accounting and finance, Michelle has successfully managed several accounting software conversions and implementations resulting from EnSafe’s growth and acquisitions. She has also successfully implemented an electronic time card system and an electronic expense report system.

Jay Spence, PG - Associate Principal

BA, Geology, Texas Tech University

 

Jay is an environmental compliance specialist focusing primarily on industrial and hazardous waste management practices, petroleum management facilities and operations, and storm water management practices.  His expertise includes conducting environmental assessments, investigations and remediation.  He has managed numerous environmental health and safety regulatory audit programs as well.  Jay manages EnSafe's Dallas, Texas, branch office.

Shaun Winter, PG - Associate Principal

BS, Geology; MS, Geography, Western Kentucky University

 

Shaun is a senior project manager/geologist who specializes in contaminant assessment, karst hydrogeology, remedial design, and overall client management. He has managed two projects that won awards in the ACEC of Tennessee’s Engineering Excellence competition — 2003 Grand Award for a karst investigation using innovative, non-invasive techniques and the 2008 Environmental award for the “recycling” of a Brownfields property. He has significant experience in soil and groundwater assessment; coordination of facility compliance audits; and liaison between client and regulatory agencies. Mr. Winter also is manager of EnSafe’s Nashville office.

Kip Barnett

Kip Barnett - Associate Principal

B.S., Environmental Science, University of Tennessee

 

Kip is a senior environmental scientist/project manager specializing in multimedia regulatory compliance, due-diligence assessments for mergers and acquisitions, management consulting, soil and groundwater investigations, site remediation (including emergency response), and waste management. He has consulted on numerous environmental projects for large-scale industrial clients with responsibilities including planning, fieldwork, technical analysis evaluation, corrective action selection, health and safety, personnel and subcontractor management, cost management, and working with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies across the country, with project experience in 46 states, Canada, and Mexico.

Derek Shadoan

Derek Shadoan, CHMM - Associate Principal

M.B.A. and B.S., Biology, Western Kentucky University

 

Derek is a senior project manager who specializes in environmental and occupational safety regulatory compliance. He manages a wide range of environmental, health, and safety projects including multimedia compliance auditing, environmental due diligence, industrial hygiene, and environmental management systems (ISO 14000). He is the branch manager of EnSafe’s Bowling Green, Kentucky, office and a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager. He serves a diverse group of public- and private-sector clients through his more than 19 years of domestic and international consulting experience. He is an active participant in the southcentral Kentucky section of the American Society of Safety Engineers and the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce.

Thomas Green

Thomas B. Green Jr., PE - Associate Principal

M.S., Environmental Engineering, and B.E., Civil Engineering, Vanderbilt University

 

Tom is an award-winning senior engineer specializing in water/wastewater facilities design and treatability studies, municipal solid waste landfill design, and asbestos program management. His innovative designs have earned him a Grand Award in the 2002 American Council of Engineering Companies of Tennessee’s Engineering Excellence competition. He also won a merit award for his Industrial Wastewater Discharge Elimination Feasibility Study for a major industrial client in the water and wastewater category of the 2009 Engineering Excellence competition. Tom is registered as a Professional Engineer in seven states. He is a member of Water Environment Federation, American Water Works Association, American Society of Civil Engineers (a past president of the Tennessee Section), National Society of Professional Engineers, and the Solid Waste Association of North America. Tom’s experience is global in scope, having performed wastewater design and auditing in South America and Europe. His language capabilities include Portuguese, Spanish, and German.

Steve Skipper

Steve Skipper, CIH, CSP, CHMM, Associate Principal 

M.B.A., University of Tennessee; and M.P.H., Public Health/Industrial Hygiene, and B.S., Biology, University of South Carolina

 

Steve is a senior project manager experienced in assisting clients with a wide range of safety and health needs ranging from Occupational Safety and Health Administration compliance services and auditing to safety systems and process safety management. Steve manages several corporate-wide industrial hygiene programs for multinational Fortune 500 companies as well as government agencies.  He has also led disaster-recovery efforts for government-sector clients responding to Hurricanes Katrina and Wilma. His professional designations include Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional, and Certified Hazardous Materials Manager.
